Out
here, you can expect to see wild life such as deer, javelin, quail, dove and
roadrunners, as well as many others.  The Big Bend has a tremendous
variety of desert plants and wild life, many of which are unique to the
area.  The air is clean and clear…you’ll see stars out here at night
like you’ve never seen before.  Its relatively close to several observatories.

 

This
area is home to Big Bend National Park,
one of the nation’s largest, and Big
Bend Ranch State Park, the largest state park in Texas, and
Mexico is just across the river (Rio Grande) – although in the interest of full
disclosure, you need to cross the border at Presidio, Texas. You risk trouble
with Immigration and Customs if you cross anywhere else.  If you do want to go to Mexico, drive along
the river from Terlingua to Presidio, the road hugs the river and has spectacular
turnoffs and parking areas. 

 

Terlingua
is truly a special place.

Oddly
enough, almost all the land in Terlingua wired telephone connections from its
inception in the 1970’s.   Cell phones
are hit and miss:  I’ve had trouble
getting cell service on both Verizon and ATT. 
However, there are some locations that have great servic.  Keep in mind that it’s a big area, with not
many people. Water: you would need to bring it or try to drill for it. Contact
a local driller to see what your chances are. 
Sewage: you would need to build a septic tank.  Power: you would need to pay for the utility to extend a line, or
bring a generator or solar cells.  

 

Building
Restrictions
:

 

There
are no building restrictions on Terlingua Ranch.  You can build what,
when, and where you want to on your property.  Or you can choose not build
at all and just enjoy camping out with your RV or tent. 

 

Wildlife:

 

This
property is within Terlingua
There is plenty of wildlife out here, including deer,
quail, doves, and javelina. So if you’re into just looking through your
binoculars, viewfinder, or even your scope, this is a great place to do
it!    It is recommended that you build
some water retention “guzzler” on your land to attract wildlife.
